Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA)

PDHRA is a force protection program designed to enhance the post deployment continuum of care. It provides the Service Member with education, screening, assessment, and an opportunity to access care for a wide variety of concerns. The Program recognizes that deployment may have an impact on the health and well-being of our Service Members. The goal is to avoid or minimize any negative impact deployment may have had on their health.

Not all deployment health concerns are recognized at the time of demobilization. After getting back home and settling in life and work, Service Members may notice that things are not quite right. Their concerns may be mild or they may be more troublesome. The PDHRA program offers a Service Member the opportunity to validate their concerns and when necessary connect with health care services that can help them.

When a unit or Service Member is notified by their command that PDHRA services are available, Service Members will:

  • Be instructed to complete a brief pre-screening questionnaire
  • Be scheduled for an interview with a healthcare professional
  • Meet with the professional to:
    • Listen to concerns and needs of the Service Member
    • Determine if the Service Member should seek care and counseling
    • Make the appropriate referral for the Service Member
  • Be provided with information about some of the more common concerns that are affecting our returning Service Members

Service Members can expect to be notified that the PDHRA screening process is being scheduled about three to six months after returning from deployment. LHI is committed to providing every Service Member with the tools needed to maintain and improve readiness, fitness and well-being before, during and after deployment.
